Karelia Rig Update Rehearsal: test a linked rig update across your Blender shots first
A revised rig can affect more than the character file: bone names, rest poses, animation targets and drivers can change in every shot that links to it. Karelia Rig Update Rehearsal tests the update before you commit to it.
Version 0.1.0, tested on Windows with Blender 4.5.14 LTS and 5.2.2 LTS.
- Version
- 0.1.0
- Blender
- 4.5 to 5.3
- Tested on
- Windows, Blender 4.5.14 LTS and 5.2.2 LTS
- Scope
- Directly linked armature libraries in the active scene
- License
- GPL-3.0-or-later
- Price
- $39, one-time
- Get it on
- Blendkit (formerly BlenderKit)
It captures the original state, reloads the revised library in a separate copy of each shot, reopens that copy through Blender's normal override resync and compares the results. Your original shot and rig files are not touched.

What Karelia Rig Update Rehearsal does
Rig structure
Added and removed rig objects and bones, bone parents, rest matrices and deform flags.
Animation
Active actions, NLA tracks, animation target paths and driver changes, plus unresolved paths, missing driver targets and invalid drivers at sampled frames.
Pose and deformation
Evaluated world-space bone poses and sampled deformed mesh positions, before and after.
Honest verdicts
NO DIFFERENCES, REVIEW, BLOCKED or INCOMPLETE per shot, so uncertainty is never shown as a pass.
Local reports
An HTML report per shot with simple before/after skeleton diagrams, JSON snapshots, worker logs and the candidate shot copies for inspection.
Background runs
Up to 50 shots and 250 sampled frames per shot in one run, in background Blender processes you can cancel.
Pricing
One-time purchase on Blendkit.
Good to know
- Comparisons sample selected frames and mesh vertices, so differences in unsampled motion or deformation can remain. A rehearsal is not a promise that an update is safe in every frame.
- Only directly linked armature libraries in the active scene are checked. Nested or indirect rig libraries are rejected, and other scenes are not checked.
- Workers turn off automatic scripts and don't enable other add-ons, so rigs that depend on them need a different check. Active simulations are rejected; Geometry Nodes and cache-reading modifiers need a visual review.
- The add-on never applies the update to your original shots. Candidate copies still depend on the revised rig and other external files.
FAQ
Does it change my shots?
No. It works on separate candidate copies and never applies the update to your original shot or rig files.
Does NO DIFFERENCES mean the update is safe?
It means no differences were found in the completed, supported checks at the sampled frames. Unsampled motion can still differ.
Does it need an account or internet?
No. Processing is local, with no account, cloud service or telemetry.
Is it affiliated with Blender or Blendkit?
No. It is an independent add-on by Karelia Labs, sold on Blendkit.
